Compensation System
Do you have intonation problems with your Euphonium? An instrument with a full-compensation system solves these problems. This allows for a balanced intonation, even in the lower registers.
In valved brass instruments, whether piston or rotary, the total length of instrument is changed by the operation of the valves. Each individual valve and valve slide lowers the pitch a specific interval when actuated. Normally, this is: a whole tone for the 1st valve, a semitone for the 2nd, a minor third (1 1/2 tone) for the 3rd, and a fourth (2½ tone) for the 4th valve.
